Covid Toes

With symptoms differing from person-to-person, a little known side effect of Covid 19 has been Covid toes. For many it is painless, but the rash can be extremely sore and itchy with blisters and swelling.

Frequently seen during the early phase of the pandemic, cases have become less common during the Delta variant wave, possibly as a result of more people being vaccinated. A new study recently published in the British Journal of Dermatology suggests that Covid toes are a sign of the body fighting off the virus as it switches to attack mode. Dr Veronique Bataille, Consultant Dermatologist and spokesperson for the British Skin Foundation talks more about the study’s findings here.
