MonaLisa Touch: A Safe Option for Vaginal Atrophy
Kensington Gynaecology at The Medical Chambers Kensington Statement on the Safety of MonaLisa Touch
You will be aware of the concerns recently raised by the American Food and Drugs Agency (FDA) about the safety of laser and radio-frequency devices used for “vaginal rejuvenation”.
It is important to note that no safety issue was raised by the FDA in their letter to the supplier of MonaLisa Touch. The concerns relate only to marketing claims made in the USA.
We have reviewed the information currently available and are pleased to tell you that we will continue to offer MonaLisa Touch (MLT) treatment to our patients. You are in safe hands here because…
You are assessed by one of our highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologists who specialise in vaginal, cervical and vulval conditions, as well as in all aspects of the menopause.
Our Consultant Gynaecologists have undertaken hundreds of MonaLisa Touch treatments, without any reported adverse effects and with very positive outcomes.
You will be able to discuss all of your options, including your suitability for MLT, the benefits, potential risks and possible side-effects. We will not proceed with the treatment if in our opinion you will not benefit or there are any contra-indications.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions before and during your consultation so that you can make a truly informed choice about what is best for you. We will not pressure you and you will be able to proceed only when you are ready.
The effectiveness of MLT in the treatment of menopause-related conditions is supported by research published in numerous international medical journals. Our Consultants offer treatment with MonaLisa Touch for Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), including vaginal dryness, mild incontinence, painful intercourse.
This type of treatment is not the same as “vaginal rejuvenation”, which are elective procedures essentially done for cosmetic reasons not medical ones.
