Dr Julia Selby is a renowned Consultant Speech and Language Therapist specialising in voice, ENT and respiratory symptoms. She has specialised in voice conditions for more than 20 years and is one of the UK’s leading therapists treating upper airway disorders.
Dr Selby provides expert assessment and therapy for patients with chronic cough, vocal cord dysfunction/ inducible laryngeal obstruction, laryngeal conditions and other upper airway disorders. She has particular expertise in treating longstanding and complex conditions using psychological techniques where helpful. She is also highly skilled in using nasendoscopy for assessment and biofeedback to ensure that therapy is as effective as possible.
She works with a variety of patients, including professional voice users and athletes.
Dr Selby has frequently appeared in the media, including the Radio 4 documentary, "Virtues of Vulnerability," in which BBC Radio 4 presenter Nick Robinson shared his experiences of dealing with health challenges whilst in the public eye. Dr Selby worked intensively with Nick to improve his voice following lung surgery.

Dr Selby qualified as a speech and language therapist after earning her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut USA. She established the upper airway speech and language therapy service at the world famous Royal Brompton Hospital in London and was the lead therapist there for 10 years.
She also provides training and supervision for therapist development and speaks at national and international conferences.
