So happy to find this place in London. Had the best possible experience with the doctor. Can’t recommend enough.

Dr Lauri was kind, patient and understanding. I had to bring my toddler with as he didn't have child care but she was unphased and very accommodating. She went out of the way to make us all feel comfortable.

profile

Lauri-Ann is a children’s doctor with many years’ experience at London's top teaching hospitals. She treats the full range of paediatric conditions and specialises in paediatric allergy problems and urticaria/hives/nettle rash.

She always ensures that she is conversant with the latest general paediatric and neonatal practice and sees infants, children and young people of all ages for common problems and routine health needs.

Dr Van der Poel (almost always known as Dr Lauri) has practised for the last decade at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, a world-leading paediatric allergy academic and research centre and the largest children's allergy service in the UK. Dr Lauri worked in all areas of allergy, including complex food allergy and prevention, allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic eczema and gastroenterology covering or practising alongside Professor Gideon Lack’s team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. She also worked in drug and venom allergy clinics under Dr Sophie Farooque at St Mary’s Hospital.

She graduated as a doctor from the University of Cape Town South Africa, with distinction finishing among the top graduates of her year and winner of the psychiatry medal. She then trained in paediatrics, paediatric allergy, infectious disease and immunology at some of London’s leading teaching hospitals including St Marys Hospital Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital and more.

Having completed an MSc in Allergy at Imperial University in 2014, she has been invited back many times as a lecturer. She has been active as a tutor, mentor and examiner for undergraduate students and visiting clinical fellows in allergy, as well as a tutor for those undertaking their paediatric clinical examinations.

Dr Lauri believes in optimising health and wellness through empowering patients and harnessing tech platforms and innovations. She has worked on finding ways to bring the latest research and health data to her patients for more holistic health. She was a co-founder of the development of a cloud-based platform to personalise diet for several clinical settings, starting with food allergies. This led to an ongoing interest in digital innovation and optimising wellbeing starting in the child’s early years.

Dr Lauri has lectured both nationally and internationally on food allergy and chronic urticaria, as well as on mobile and digital health.
