Private Hearing Aids London
Do you know that people wait on average seven years before asking for help to treat their hearing loss? Accepting that you have hearing loss can be difficult.
However, there are long-term consequences if it’s left untreated. Living with hearing loss not only impacts your quality of life at home or at work, but it can also affect your relationships. You may find yourself turning down invitations to parties, dinners, birthday events and any social gatherings that involve being in a noisy environment with lots of people. You may feel that you are at risk of embarrassing yourself because you are not able to understand what others are saying. And staying at home or remaining silent might seem to be the easiest option.
For some adults, hearing in general can be an everyday struggle, which can lead to mental exhaustion and a high chance of developing mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. You are not alone: according to the World Health Organisation over 5% of the world’s population need help to treat their hearing loss.
Modern digital hearing systems have developed significantly and we are committed to providing an effective rehabilitation service for the management of hearing loss through our comprehensive hearing aid services. Our goal is to assist people experiencing communication difficulties due to their hearing loss and improve their quality of life.
What can I do about my hearing loss?
Identifying hearing loss in the early stages means we can provide effective management to help prevent feelings of frustration, isolation and the potential development of mental health disorders. The most common treatment for hearing loss is hearing aids. These are amplification devices which we programme specifically to your hearing requirements.
Studies have shown that people who choose to wear hearing aids have a better quality of life; they are able to reconnect with the world and participate in group settings once more.
What does a private hearing aid consultation involve?
Our private hearing aid consultations are carried out by a highly skilled and experienced audiologist who specialises in assessing and fitting private hearing aids. You will have a 60 minute consultation, in which we will take your medical history, ask about your lifestyle, and discuss the hearing difficulties you are experiencing.
Then we will check the health of your ears and comprehensively assess your hearing. If the results show hearing loss which can be treated with a hearing aid, we will advise and recommend the most suitable hearing aid technology for you. We will talk you through the adaptation process. You can choose a model that you are most comfortable with and meet your cosmetic expectations. The latest digital models can be very discreet, almost invisible, and still deliver exceptional sound performance.
If your assessment shows any unusual findings we'll inform your GP and you may need to see an Ear Nose and Throat Consultant for further investigation. Of course, you can see an ENT of your choice and our audiologist can assist by making a recommendation.
Hearing aid fitting appointment
Your hearing aid fitting appointment will take up to 60 minutes during which we will programme your hearing aids, run tests for verification and fine tune them. We will also talk you through how to use and take care of your hearing aids.
Aftercare
We recommend a review appointment 2-3 weeks after you’ve started using your hearing aids when we will discuss how you are getting on with your hearing aids. This appointment can be in clinic or remote.
It can take time to make sure your hearing aids are working optimally, and research shows that an ongoing relationship with a skilled and experienced audiologist is key. Although hearing aids can work wonders when correctly fitted, issues can include blockages from earwax and experiencing whistling or discomfort.
We can fix these problems with the right adjustments so we offer a dedicated aftercare programme. Unlike many high street retailers, our skilled specialists and independent audiologists will tailor your experience so that your hearing aids work for you and your lifestyle.
To get the very best results we would like to see you for an annual check so that we can service your hearing aids and follow your progress. We will check to see if any further adjustments are needed to produce your best possible hearing experience. Modern digital hearing aids don’t usually develop faults, so you can have peace of mind that they come with a manufacturer’s guarantee of up to 5 years depending on the model.
What if the hearing aid I’ve chosen is not for me?
Deciding to wear a hearing aid can feel daunting at first and you may be anxious about how you will get on. Especially if it’s the first time. So, to ensure you are happy with them and our service we offer a trial period of 30 days on all our hearing aids. Our audiologist will talk you through the available options to help you make the best choice for you and your circumstances.
